Description

The UltraClean^® Maxi Plasmid Prep Kit is designed to isolate plasmid DNA from large culture volumes of E. coli. The Maxi Kit uses the same silica spin filter technology employed in the UltraClean^® 6 Minute Mini Plasmid Prep Kit. Unlike other kits, this kit can be used with LB Broth culture and high nutrient broth culture at the following media volumes: up to 500 ml of an LB broth culture and up to 250 ml of a high nutrient broth culture.

The procedure is to lyse cells with an improved set of alkaline lysis reagents. The DNA is bound to a silica spin filter, washed once and released into a low volume of elution buffer. The recovered DNA is concentrated enough to be used directly in automated sequencing. The DNA is also ready for restriction digests, labeling, PCR and other downstream applications.

Best Value for the Money; Best Yield for the Time.

After using other maxiprep kits, including those from Clontech, Qiagen, Sigma and BioRad (both the Quantum Prep and the new Aurum) kits, as well as doing the protocol straight from Sambrook, I can only say that your kit gives me the best, purest, highest yield per dollar in the least amount of time. Sure, the package is not as pretty as the other kits, but as a very busy research associate/lab mommy I just do not have time to be making maxipreps time after time or to spend two or three days completing them. I do not have time to spend on additional purifications to get a "glassy" pellet that actually goes into solution properly. Your kit is the best kit for my needs.

Great, Clean DNA.

This was my first time using a MO BIO product. I needed to generate a relatively large amount of a low copy plasmid. I used the MO BIO TB DRY^® Powder Growth Media to grow 250 ml of E.coli containing my plasmid. Then I used the maxi plasmid kit and generated approximately 80 µg of my low copy plasmid. This was an excellent yield for this construct. The DNA was sent out for sequencing and so far our results from that are beautiful also. I strongly recommend this kit for all ultra-clean plasmid preps.
